Alexander Wang Made a Gym Bag for the One Percent
Senior Digital Editor
While many of today's most talked-about designer collaborations involve affordable diffusion collections, Alexander Wang's new team-up with with the technological geniuses at Samsung has yielded one might pricey backpack. After the electronics company tasked Wang with crowdsourcing a limited-edition bag, the CFDA favorite asked some of his style industry BFFs to doodle potential patterns and images on their Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphones—which he in turn combined into a single decorative motif.
The result, called the Wallie gym sack, is a minimalist drawstring lambskin bag covered in an abstract gray and black print. It's available beginning today at Alexanderwang.com, with proceeds going to Art Start, a charitable organization that fosters creative talent among at-risk children. Still, at $550, the Wallie costs roughly the same as a six-month membership at my NYC gym. Tell us: will you be snapping up one of these expensive (but undeniably cool) carryalls for a cause?
