Miami Mania: Jessie Randall Of Loeffler Randall Shares Her Favorite South Florida Hot Spots (EXCLUSIVE)
Down in Miami Beach, Art Basel is officially in full swing, drawing tens of thousands of visitors from the worlds of art and fashion alike. But while the South Florida city seems particularly appealing during the winter, when trendsetting types are eager to escape the Northwest's frigid temperatures and do a little champagne-toasting and gallery-hopping, Loeffler Randall designer Jessie Randall makes time to visit Miami at least several times each year. In fact, she finds the sunny location so inspiring that she based her entire resort collection on Miami's peachy color palette and famous Art Deco architecture.
We asked Jessie to spill the details on why she chose Miami as her inspiration this season—and to offer up some of her favorite local haunts, too. Whether you're Basel-bound, are a Florida native or hope to visit the Sunshine State sometime in the near future, we urge you to take note of her recommendations—this girl knows her stuff.
Lucky: First and foremost, what made you choose Miami as the primary inspiration for your resort collection?
Jessie Randall: We tend to travel to Miami about two or three times a year. It's the perfect getaway for me and it just evokes the resort season.
How did you gather your inspiration for the collection?
I started this collection thinking about the city's colors, the architecture, the vibe. Walking up and down Collins and visiting the Wynnwood were some of my most inspiring memories of Miami. I was also looking at pictures of flamingos and thinking of the pink and green vibe of the city.
How did you go about translating the architecture and landscape of Miami into your collection?
The waves of this beach city are evident in our Milla Scallop Flat and Charlotte d'Orsay Pump. The crosshatch pattern on leather was directly influenced by Art Deco architecture, as well as the diamond cut-out perforations in the shoes. Miami architecture is all about pastel hues and bright whites and so the color palette was influenced by architecture as well.
