Mulberry's New Range Of 'Affordable' Handbags Is Here: Shop It Now!
Mulberry's been going through somewhat of a rough patch recently. The world tuned in as the British heritage band saw its former CEO Bruno Guillon resign in March after just two years at the helm—much like when former creative director Emma Hill left suddenly after more than six years. Plus, there was that profit warning in January, which a pricey line of Cara Delevingne-inspired handbags had planned to reverse. But when that attempt (i.e. increasing Mulberry's exclusivity) didn't raise earnings, the brand opted to go in a different direction; this time, decreasing its prices.
The house's brand-new Tessie collection—featuring satchels, hobos, totes and even smaller accessories—is now available for purchase on Mulberry's website, touting more "affordable" prices that range from $116 to $1,190. The bags, in particular, were influenced by vintage pieces from the Mulberry archives.
Keep in mind that the company hit its profit peak after launching its wildly successful Alexa bag in 2010; at the time, it cost around $1,200. Essentially, Mulberry has simply returned its goods to their original price points—so now the question is whether the Tessie range will convince loyal customers to stick around. (We think so!)
