Olivia Palermo For Westward Leaning: Summer Sunglasses Guaranteed To Get You Street Style Snapped

Blogger, model and all-around It Girl Olivia Palermo is a famous supporter of young fashion labels, and she's been frequently spotted in Westward Leaning's frosted and mirrored Wayfarer-style sunglasses ever since the brand first launched in 2012. Now, she's collaborated with the company, helping to design eight new exclusive frames that'd fit right in by the pool, at the shore—or in the front row of a fashion show.
Each style in the new OP x WL collab features "muted gold" reflective lenses and is named after one of Palermo's favorite destinations, including Berlin, Saint Germain and Palm Beach. True to Westward Leaning's signature flourish, materials like sea glass and blackened redwood are set at the temples—and in keeping with the brand's charitable philosophy, $10 from the sale of each pair will be donated to ADCAM's Maasai Project, the style star's favorite cause.
I had a chance to chat with Palermo on the eve of her collaboration's launch. Read on for her thoughts on summer skincare, healthy snacking—and, of course, what makes a perfect pair of sunglasses! Lucky: Do you remember the first pair of sunglasses you ever owned?
Olivia Palermo: I definitely do not remember—my mother really enjoyed dressing me up as a child, though, so I'm sure I had them on when I was young in Nantucket.
Fill in the blanks: The perfect pair of summer shades should be ___, ___ and ___.
Well made, a great shape and go with everything.
You're known for having fairly flawless hair and skin. Now that it's summer, how do you tweak your beauty routine to suit these hot, humid days?
I just recently popped in to see my dermatologist, Dr. Dennis Gross, who I've been going to see for about 10 years. It's always good to get a second opinion. Sometimes skin can change with the weather! I prefer serums for the face instead of creams—they're a bit lighter. Also, always have a great sun hat—and let your skin breathe.
You travel all the time. What are some of your go-to summer packing strategies?
I love chiffon in the summer. It's perfect to pack since it's so light. I also always have dress shorts, my favorite white button-down from Susan Woo—and I can't live without my Tibi silk tanks.
What's your summer snack and beverage of choice?
A bowl of berries and Evian with fresh-cut lemon.
You recently got engaged—congrats! Any ideas yet on your dress or beauty look for the big day?
I will get back to you on that!
