Jillian Dempsey is one of those especially fortunate beautiful people that you can't hate. Not only is she charming and down-to-earth, she's an amazing makeup artist with innumerable secrets on how to look better.

Her best yet, in my opinion, is this: Before putting on your mascara—and the before is really, really key, as your lashes have to be in their virgin, bendable state for this to work—take liquid eyeliner and smush it into the base of your eyelashes. Whether you work from under the lashes or from above them doesn't matter, as you're sort of pushing the lashes out of the way as you go. That's all.

Your eyes will appear much larger and much more awake, but you will not be Eyeliner Lady. It's the naturally gorgeous look, as opposed to Sophia Loren or the Cure—and, if you use Perfect Wear from Avon, it truly doesn't smudge.
