It's True! You Can Blow-Dry Really Curly Hair Yourself

CONDITION. Nothing is more important. The thicker and richer, we say, the better.

The tighter the curl, the heavier your styler should be. Work it into the ends moving upward, but stop before you get to the scalp.

Air-dry for about 15 minutes, then flip your hair way forward and, with one hand, hold your hair slightly above the ends. (They dry faster.)

Blow-dry from roots to where you're holding your hair, using a nozzle attachment with a narrow opening. Hold your hair lightly so the curls stay intact. Make sure you don't use the dryer near your ends: If you do, you'll mess up what stylists nobly label "the integrity of the curl."

Once you've loosened the curl as much as you want, eradicate extra frizz with shine serum.
