Looking at the ingredients of most beauty products is like trying to read gibberish. Does Decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5) mean anything to you? Probably not. But as I've recently learned, it should. D5 is just one of a long list of potentially harmful chemicals found in products like sunscreen and hair spray—in other words, stuff that we use every day.
Swift's inspiration for creating the brand came after she fell ill and discovered that her body contained high levels of chemicals and metals—and that cosmetics were a big contributor to the problem.
As a beauty product junkie, the event was eye-opening for me, and has prompted me to reassess what I put on my skin and hair.
While it may not be realistic to cut out all of the chemical-laden products from your beauty routine, it's important to know that there are alternatives available that you'll love just as much (or more!). Of course, just like healthy food, natural beauty products can be pricey—but when it comes to your health and well-being, some products are worth the investment.
