DIY Louis Vuitton-Inspired Checkerboard Nail Art In Three Easy Steps

From Marc Jacobs to Louis Vuitton, fun checkered prints have been a fashion huge trend this season. Bring the pattern off the runway and onto your nails in three easy (and crafty) steps!

What You Need:
- White nail polish
- Clear, top coat nail polish
- Cuticle nipper or small scissors
- Black plastic party bag

Step 1

Paint your nails with the white nail polish. Using black plastic party bags (black and white striped bags, like mine, will also work), cut 6 thin black strips about 1” long. Then, add a clear topcoat to the nail you would like the checkerboard nail art on.

Step 2

Place three black strips horizontally, equally spaced from eachother on the desired nail. Add another top clear topcoat to this nail.  Then, place three black strips vertically on the same nail.

Step 3

Using a cuticle nipper or a pair of small scissors, cut each strip down to the size and shape of your nail.

Voilà!

Finish with a final clear top coat to seal in place.
