"Start by using a brush and an elastic band, positioning how high you would like the ponytail to be. Tip: don’t twist the elastic too tight! This causes hair to break and results in damage. One of my favorite tool tricks: use a bungee wrap elastic (elastics with two hooks on the ends to hold hair in place). Your sleek ponytail will be perfect and stay in place no matter what type of exercise you’re doing. Wrap a piece of hair from the ponytail around the elastic; it hides the elastic and gives off a put-together, neat look."

"Try to go light on products when styling hair for the gym. Most hair products are oil-based; therefore when you sweat, the oil runs into your skin and can contribute to breakouts. Headbands are a great way to keep the product oils from hitting your skin while working out, plus they also look cute and can spruce up your look. "To start, tease the hair at the ends a little. When the hair is a little fluffy, it will hold better in the knot. The best way to get a great top knot is to use a foam hair donut. They not only keep the bun in place, but they also create the perfect knot circle. Always match your hair donut to the shade of your hair to prevent it from showing. Use bobby pins if necessary to tuck in the stubborn pieces. A dry shampoo always helps to keep hair clean, neat and in place."
