Farel gives Ivanovic a pre-match trim.

In addition to working at the US Open, you've also got two salons in Manhattan. During these busy few weeks, what does a typical day look like for you, work-wise?

It’s one of the busiest times of the year! I will often travel back and forth multiple times a day. But I still make time to get my morning run in! Before anyone is awake, I run six to nine miles along the West Side every morning at 5:30 am. It allows me time to enjoy the quiet in New York City and gives me the energy to be charged for my multi-hour day.

The style set may be buzzing about New York Fashion Week—but it's a pretty important time of year for tennis, too! The US Open kicked off just last week and runs through September 9, and for the past seven years, celeb hairstylist Julien Farel has been prepping and primping the likes of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Victoria Azarenka for their big on-court appearances. With his very own pop-up salon located right by Arthur Ashe Stadium, Farel's the Open's official hair guru—and I was lucky enough to snag a few minutes with him for a Q&A. Click through above for more on Farel's insane US Open schedule (he still manages to squeeze in early-morning workouts!), tips for reviving your hair post-exercise and to learn how to create his signature Braided Ponytail at home.
