"As a web editor, my day begins and ends with social media. Two seconds after I turn off my iPhone alarm and do a quick email check, I'm already scrolling through Twitter and Instagram to see what's up. If I were more of a morning person, I'd sit down and read the newspaper like a civilized human being—but weekends tend to be the only time I can actually do that. Thank goodness for WWD.com! Once all my online business is in order, it's time to face...my face."

"This might sound weird, but I don't actually wash my face in the morning. I cleanse at night, and then in the morning the most I ever do is splash my skin with a little warm water for a quick pick-me-up.

My skin's a delightful mix of dry, sensitive and acne-prone, and I find that too many lotions and potions just irritates it. So for me, the first step is to apply my tinted moisturizer, which I actually make by mixing about one part concealer (I love Revlon Colorstay) to three parts moisturizer (my current favorite's Olay Total Effects with SPF 15) on the back of my hand. That provides me with allover light-to-medium coverage depending on how I mix it, and I dot a little extra concealer on any stubborn spots afterwards."

"Next, it's time for eyes—liner and mascara only. Using a black or grey eyeliner (right now, I'm into Revlon Colorstay's version—can you tell I'm a big fan of drugstore beauty products?), I draw a line on my upper lash line and then promptly smudge the heck out of it with my finger. If I don't, it somehow winds up all over my lids by midday!"
"Then, it's two coats of whatever mascara I'm test-driving at the moment. I'm pretty fickle when it comes to mascara, though Maybelline and Clinique make some of my enduring favorites."
"To finish off my five-minute makeup routine, I apply a moisturizing lip stain—Tarte's LipSurgence is a favorite, as is Clinique's Chubby Stick."
"Hair-wise, I usually don't have to do too much thanks to the magic of Japanese straightening—but if it's been more than a few months since my last appointment, I'll run a ceramic flat iron through my roots just to keep it looking presentable. If I'm dealing with third-day hair (I try not to wash it more than two or three times per week, since straightening processes are inherently drying), it's nothing a quick hit of Batiste dry shampoo and a ponytail or messy bun can't remedy."

"After a quick spritz of scent—I alternative between Balenciaga Paris and Diptyque L'Ombre Dans L'Eau—I'm out the door.

The final step in my morning routine? Coffee—in vast quantities. I can't get on the subway before I've picked up my usual venti coffee (hot in the fall and winter, iced in the spring and summer) from Starbucks. My baristas always have my order ready for me by the time I get to the counter, which officially makes them my favorite people in the whole world."
