Beauty Obsession: BareMinerals Launches Its First Liquid Foundation

Digital Beauty Editor

When BareMinerals first launched its cult-favorite mineral foundation almost a decade ago, I was immediately hooked. I loved the extremely lightweight feel, the way it made me look like I had no makeup on whatsoever and the non-drying texture that lasted all day without caking. Now I'm so excited that the brand is bringing all that amazing technology to its first-ever line of liquid foundation, BareSkin—just in time to refresh my summer makeup routine. The makeup is made without any oils, silicones, water or parabens. It sounds bare-minimum, but still gives you the most gorgeous coverage.

My favorite part might be the new Perfecting Brush that was created specifically for the new formula. It takes the guesswork out of which exact makeup tool you need to use with your foundation and it also keeps your fingers mess-free! The ultra-soft brush has a special "fluid reservoir" which evenly distributes the makeup to where it needs to go and seamlessly gets tricky spots, like the areas around your nose and mouth. I found that the buffing motion from the brush works best on an exfoliated face, so make sure you've sloughed off dead skin cells and moisturized properly beforehand.

Now on how to apply it: after shaking the bottle to mix the ingredients, apply two drops of foundation to the middle of the brush for a sheer look, four drops for medium coverage or six drops for a full, more pigmented finish. It comes in 20 versatile shades and the formula contains a brightening serum so it makes skin all glowy, too. Talk about a multitasker!
