At Last, You Can Try On Drugstore Makeup Before Buying It!
I can't count how many times I've stood in the beauty aisle at a drugstore and wondered whether or not I should take a chance on a trendy orange lipstick or a bright pink blush. They say you never know if you'll love something until you try it. But that's the tricky part: As many of you can relate, I don't want to buy an entire tube of lipstick just to swipe it on once and realize that I'm never going to wear it again!
Enter L'Oréal Paris' free, brand-new beauty app launching in mid-June, called Makeup Genius. It uses the front-facing camera of your phone to map out 64 points of your face to scan your facial features and skin tone. Then, you can instantly upload any of L'Oréal's hundreds of makeup products, different shades or runway-inspired looks onto your face with a simple touch of a button. And the app is totally interactive—unlike a regular still photo of yourself, Makeup Genius lets you see how the makeup looks when you move around, smile or even make silly faces so you know exactly how it'll look in real life. Plus, the app works on all skin tones and has been tested in 400 lighting situations to make sure what you see on the screen is actually what you get.
You play around with the app at home, of course—and then, the next time you're at the drugstore, just scan a L'Oreal Paris label to instantly test out that product before you buy it. Makeup genius? Yeah, that pretty much sums it up!
