Blue Ivy Carter's Hair Inspired A Ridiculous Petition—And We're Not OK With It
Even at just two years old, Blue Ivy Carter has already managed to impress the fashion set with her adorable mini floral Dr. Martens, bomber jackets and crystallized sneakers. While she’s definitely inspiring from a style standpoint, I know a lot of people that would also kill for Blue Ivy Carter’s cute, kinky curls, too. So it comes as a total shock that a recent petition for Beyoncé and Jay-Z to change their daughter’s hair is gathering so much support.
The “Comb Her Hair” petition was created by Jasmine Toliver, a New York woman who began the appeal “as a [person] who understands the importance of hair care." She continued in her statement that she feels "it's disturbing to watch a child suffering from the lack of hair moisture. The parents of Blue Ivy, Sean Carter A.K.A Jay-Z and Beyoncé, has [sic] failed at numerous attempts of doing Blue Ivy Hair [sic]. This matter has escalated to the child developing matted dreads and lint balls. Please let's get the word out to properly care for Blue Ivy hair [sic]."
Since it first launched, Toliver claims that the petition, which has so far garnered over 5,000 signatures, began as a joke. “I admire she’s natural,” she said. “I’m natural myself. But natural doesn’t mean to be left alone [sic]. I recommend finger detangling with water and coconut oil. Then an organic conditioner. But blessings to Blue. I apologize to anyone I might of [sic] offended.”
Not only are we pretty sure that Beyoncé has a Rolodex full of hair experts if she really wanted some professional advice, but at the end of the day, Blue's parents probably have more important things to think about than their baby’s beauty routine.
