A Cute And Easy Way To Amp Up Your Ponytail

Digital Beauty Editor

Unless I'm headed to the gym or washing my face at night, I rarely wear my hair in a ponytail because I feel like the style lacks pizzazz. However, this season's newest ponytail updates are completely changing my mind. They're simple, yet have a fun twist that makes them a little more special than a basic pony. I'm particularly excited to try the style featured at Osklen's Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Week show—and the best part is that it only takes a few minutes to do!

After applying tons of hairspray (try Aveda Control Force Hair Spray, $27, Aveda.com) to get the hair slick and smooth, "take two sections on each side and criss-cross them underneath your ponytail," says Aveda global creative director Antoinette Beenders, who created the look on the models.

"Then, make a knot underneath and secure it with bobby pins." Straighten the rest of the pony for a really slick finish and add some texturizing gel to the sides to create that cool surfer-girl wet hair look. It's perfect for days when I'm rushing out the door with no time to spare, but still want to look polished.

Still a little stumped on how to recreate this ponytail for yourself? Watch the 60-second video below to see exactly how to get it done!
