How-To (beauty)
The look right now is decidedly imperfect—and incredibly easy to do. The key—depending on your hair type—is product and a few long layers. "You don't have to worry about achieving glassy perfection," says Danilo, Pantene Pro-V's celebrity stylist. "There's more volume and life and interest to this hair."

The Tools
1 An ionic blowdryer. These really cut down on frizz (plus they dry faster).
2 A curling iron or flat iron. Depending on your hair type, you'll want to add a few rumpled waves—or smooth out a few overly curly spots.
3 A lightweight leave-in conditioner. It protects against heat, seals in moisture, and gives you a head start on the all-important piecey texture.
Styling Tips—By Hair Type
Straight
Dab styling cream into towel-dried hair; comb or brush.Work body-building spray or mousse through the top layers of the hair. You want volume all over, not just at the roots.
For a subtle bend, use a large-barrel curling iron or a few jumbo rollers, says Aveda stylist Frank Rizzieri. "Work in large sections, prepping each with a touch of pomade or styling spray for control without stiffness."
Wavy
Start with hair cream or defrizzing serum just out of the shower. To subdue a strong wave, part your hair and flat-iron the roots. Take two-inch sections, mist them with a combable hairspray, and wrap them outside a large curling iron.
Finishing pomades, serums, and creams leave a great polish at the ends.
Curly
Have your stylist keep your layers long."Start with smoothing shampoo and conditioner to lay the hair down, then go in with antifrizz serum or cream and a leave-in conditioner," says Danilo. "That fills your cortex up with moisture and creates a barrier to stop poufiness."
Air-dry or use a diffuser; then run sections through a large-barrel curling iron or flat iron.
