3 Steps to False Lashes

Brian Bowen Smith
Fluttery, wood-nymphish lashes might look crazy for, say, a morning meeting—but the lush, Studio 54–esque feel of them is great for late nights. "The green-and-blue feather strips are all-out glamorous," says Gina Brooke, makeup artist and artistic director for Shu Uemura. "People are wild over them."
No matter how dramatic you go, the steps are the same:
- If you want mascara on your real lashes, put it on first.
- Pick up the lash strip (or single lash) with tweezers; dot any amount of glue along the edge.
- Lay them in as close to the lashline as you can. "If you're dealing with single lashes, do four to five at the outer corners," Brooke says. "If you need to, adjust them by pressing them into place with your finger."
