You’ve got a unique voice and you’re building your blog’s readership. Now, how do you make some money from your fantastic content? Our “Ways You Didn’t Know You Could Monetize” panel at FABB West addressed issues and questions about the different options and opportunities available to bloggers.

What’s the difference between pay-per-click and affiliate linking? When is it time to think about management and representation? How can you partner with a respected brand? These are just a few of the topics discussed during the FABB West panel.

Amber Venz, president of affiliate linking site rewardStyle, told the audience that "pay-per-click is betting against yourself," because advertisers are making the money on commission that you could have earned for yourself. Affiliate links are comission bearing links which enable bloggers to earn a percentage of the total purchase made by the reader who clicked the link.

"We have bloggers who make more than $20,000 a month with us," Amber noted.

Wendy Nguyen, founder of Wendy's Lookbook, discussed how monetization differs for her blog and YouTube channel. "YouTube is still a maturing market," she explained. "Build your brand on YouTube, grow it first, and then monetize."

Fashionably Marketing Me founder Macala Wright encouraged the bloggers to treat their brands seriously and understand the history of the subjects they write about. "The number one thing you can do to build your brand is to build your business skills."
