fabb attendee spotlight: wendy nguyen of wendy's lookbook

FABB is as much about the attendees as it is the panelists. We're less than one week away from FABB West and could not be more excited! Wendy's Lookbook founder Wendy Nguyen will be speaking at the conference and we caught up with the fashionable blogger to get her take on FABB, as well as a sneak peek at what she'll be discussing on Monday. Don't forget to catch the live stream, beginning at 8:30 a.m. PST!

Q: Tell us about your blog, Wendy's Lookbook. Why did you start blogging?

A: I was a financial consultant for a few years and realized it was not for me. I had a yearning for something more creative. There was something about patterns, textures, shapes and designs that completely captivated me. I see my blog as a creative outlet for me to document my style journey and share personal stories.

Q: What are your blogging necessities?

A: I work on my MacBook and always have my phone with me. I love playing on Instagram and capturing inspirational environmental pictures! And most importantly, I'm very blessed to have my boyfriend who's a talented photographer and filmmaker by my side. We shoot with a Canon 5D Mark 2.

Q: The annual September FABB is held in New York. What do you think differentiates California from NYC in terms of fashion and beauty?

A: I love both cities! I find that California has a casual effortlessly chic vibe and New York has a polished sharp refinement. In the Spring and Summer, I love people watching in California because the color palettes are so vibrant.  In the Fall and Winter, I adore New York styles because of the thoughtful layering and beautiful coats.

Q: As a fashion blogger, why is having a forum like FABB important to the industry?

A: I personally think that FABB is an invaluable platform to encourage conversation, share best practices, and build camaraderie among bloggers. It is also an incredible opportunity to meet and connect with editors and fashion curators.

Q: What will you be discussing at FABB West?

A: I'm going to be speaking on the topic of monetization and digital/social media, specifically on creating a brand on YouTube.

Q: What are some of your favorite blogs to read?

A: There are so many great blogs out there, so it's hard for me to narrow down to a few. In the last couple of months, I've had the utmost pleasure of meeting a handful of bloggers who I admire and respect. They are beautiful, kind, and down-to-earth women with strong personal styles - Jean from ExtraPetite, Kelly from AlterationsNeeded, Anh from 9to5Chic, Blair from Atlantic-Pacific, Helena from BrooklynBlonde, and Alicia from CheetahIsTheNewBlack.
