Speaking of
Ms. Roncal, the reason it occurred to me to ask her to guest-blog in the first place was because I've been obsessing over her
Evercolor Shadow Stick, which is incredibly long-wearing (she calls it her "tattoo in a stick") and acts like primer, eye shadow, eyeliner and a brush all in one (and you know
I know good eye makeup). For day, I just run the shadow stick like normal eyeliner; to smoke it up, I use my finger to blur the line. Once the shadow sets, it'll be there until you decide to take it off. Seriously.
Amazzzzing. Has anyone else tried it or another Mally Beauty item?

I was in the elevator with a deathly chic woman who had on the most enchanting scent: I immediately identified it as Fracas. “You must visit Fragonard!” she exclaimed. I had always thought of visiting the famed perfumery in Grasse, France, known for its magical scents, and, in my dreams, learning the techniques of perfume-making and having a fragrance mixed for me. Unfortunately, I have not yet done so—hence my lack of a real artisanal scent created by me, for me. Luckily,
Tom Ford’s new set includes 12 different fragrances (all of which I swear by) and comes at a pretty decent price, considering what you are getting. They may not be my very own mix, but they come pretty close to what I would want in a scent.

My artist friend Allison Hills designed these cute wallet-size nail kits, $18 each at
naturallife.net. They're the perfect weekend-bag-organizing item--wonderfully compact, full of pockets, and, like Allison, adorable and charmingly hippie-ish.

My past 2 haircuts have come from a hair genius (you know, one of those people who runs his hands through your hair for 2 seconds and you’re sure he gets exactly what your hair is about and knows what to do to make it look great) at
The John Sahag Workshop, aptly named Valentino. I’ve spent years searching for someone to give me a cut that would take enough weight out to reduce the frizz and puff (especially in the summer) but not chop into it so much that I was left with split ends and ultimately, more frizz. At my first appointment, when Valentino told me he was going to cut my hair dry, a light bulb went off: Why don’t more stylists do this? It makes total sense. As he’s cutting, he can see what it will look like dry—the way most people walk around —and adjust accordingly. He uses a
flat iron to make it as smooth as glass and then deftly cuts a small section at a time, layer by layer, with the precision of Edward Scissorhands. The result is that my hair has never looked healthier or been easier to style on my own. I’m a convert to both Valentino and the dry cut. He has convinced me that I am a perfect candidate for a Keratin conditioning treatment (not straightening but a 2 1/2 hour process he swears will leave me nearly frizz-free for 3-4 months). I’m going back to see him next week to try it. Stay tuned...

Those of you who went as far as to purchase the Will Ferrell endorsed
Sex Panther cologne are going to love Ferrell’s latest beauty foray. If you plan to “streak on the quad” anytime soon, you may want to consider protecting that bare skin with special Ferrell SPF30. His new amusing
sunblock line will not only protect you from UV rays, but promises to improve your golf swing! I love that little something extra, don’t you? The proceeds go to a college scholarship fund for cancer survivors. I can’t wait to see the look on my friends' faces when I pull this out of my beach bag. Let’s all
support Will’s cause and purchase at fredflare.com.

I learned the word snog (British slang for French kiss, an awfully

good onomatopoeia) at college in Scotland. Other favorite expressions: faff about (translation: get nothing done), natter (talk about unimportant things), kip (nap), "take the sun" (sunbathe, all but impossible in Scotland), slap (makeup), and chuffed (utterly thrilled). So though I do not need another product in my handbag, I am compelled to add
Snog Balm. Not just for the name: The texture is super-moisturizing yet slightly glossy -- not matte like a lot of
lip balms --and one application truly lasts for hours. Plus, the adorable mini-tube takes up less room than a AA battery. It comes in four flavors: I love the Cheeky Mint.

Not content with supplying perfect brows to every celebrity in Hollywood,
Anastasia Soare, the brow queen, is shifting her focus to eyelashes: She's just introduced an irresistibly lash-fattening and smudge-resistant
mascara from Italy -- and was so blown away by
Latisse, the prescription lash-growing treatment, that she's become an official spokesperson for the brand. "I've never had lashes this long in my life!" she exclaimed when I met her last week at
Gansevoort South. "I used to squeeze my lash curler once; now I have to squeeze it three times just to work my way out to the ends!"
Even more happifying: If you
register at Latisse.com, the company will automatically donate $5 to the
Make-a-Wish foundation -- the famous organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Takes two seconds, totally worth it.

I am completely fascinated by the concept of the
Lush solid shampoo. Every time I shop there, I spend way too long lingering over the shampoo bars, wondering if they’re anything like liquid shampoo or if they amount to washing your hair with a bar of soap. I inevitably talk myself out of buying any and leave with my standard arsenal of bath bombs, bubble bars, and some eau roma toner.
But recently, while attempting to pack for a weekend trip in a way that allowed me to stay within the meager liquid allotment for flights and still avoid checking my bag without sacrificing any of what I deem to be necessary beauty products, I decided the time had come. I bought a bar of their classic
Trichomania and threw it in my weekend bag expecting a trip full of bad hair days. But by the end of the weekend all I could think was “Why didn’t I try this sooner? It’s amazing!” Aside from making
packing easier, it is seriously great
shampoo! It makes my hair shiny and soft and leaves the nicest trace of
coconut scent behind. I’m officially a convert. It has changed my life (and perhaps more importantly, my hair) for the better.
