Kitted Out

Img_0610

Something spectacular, unexpected, and a little out of character happened in my apartment over the weekend: I got kittens. Picture_3Picture_4 I'd been thinking about this for a while, looked up thousands of adoptable cats on Craigslist, and almost took in two last year that had been abandoned at a deli by my house, but could never could pull the trigger. (They'll make the house messy! They'll stink! I'll become a cat lady!) Then on Saturday, I was walking to buy bread for dinner and there they were: the most ridiculously-to-the-point-of-cheesy cute animals I'd ever seen in my life. Picture_7 And they'd been abandoned and needed someone to foster them, and I took them home that night, and I am never giving them back. I am freakishly obsessed with these little creatures. I want them to have everything—stupid blinged-out collars, fake mice, "peek-a-prize", peacock feathers, this thing. Something has gone terribly wrong (or right?). Seriously, I can see it all happening: First I'll frame of a picture of them and put it on my desk, then I'll use an adorable photo of them as my Facebook headshot ... then, honestly, who knows? A T-shirt with all of us together? An "I heart my cats" pin? My life as a mildly cool person is over. It's embarrassing.

no No no! we fellow stylish catloving people must unite lol!!

I love cats and they are absolutely adorable! Enjoy being part of the cat owner world but when you have 5 mugs with headshots of your kitties things might have gone overboard.

So what type of kitties did you get?

I always wanted to get a cute little night cap for my cat Asriel. I imagined it white with gathers all the way around (kind of Little House).

Congrats!

I got two kitens in September. It was the best thing I ever did. So...you'll have to check out this blog

My kittens weren't too fond of the peek a prize. But you should get the ultimate scratching post from esmart cat http://www.esmartcat.com/shopping/Scratching_Solutions.htm and buy the perch to go with it, otherwise they'll climb to the top and fall off!

I'm just embracing my cat lady side!

It could be worse: my kittens' picture is the background on my cell, but I do have a 9 year old daughter who is my beard.

They are so sweet! The same thing happened to me last Dec, but I got mine at a shelter. Touch their feet a lot so they get used to it and then you can easily clip their nails when they are sleepy. I do my kitties about every other week. Also, it was good you got 2 at one time - they will be so much company for each other.

And so, as the proud new parent, you must share the names of you little spawn, eerr, i mean angels with us. We have 3 cats, 1 stray (when u name it tho, it isn't a stray, but I'm holding to that label) and 2 dogs. I boy with ADHD, and the dog that was bred to calm ADHD kids,......that dog seems to have caught ADHD from my son. My daughter looks so afraid sometimes.,,,, (I like Bonnie and Clyde for your two, mine are Jack and Jill, but hey, my kids were 5 and 2!)

Don't worry, this is completely normal. I like my leather couch, but I love my cats more!

Name them Callou and Callay, like in Alice in WOnderland! (you know, "callou, callay, no work today, we're cabbages and kings.")

At least you didn't almost go to court with your soon-to-be-ex just to keep your cats because the two of you were fighting about custody of the cats. Although, in the end I won. Which is good because they would of never got fresh water.
