There must be a silver lining in all of these clouds.

Something has gone wrong in
New York. It's the middle of
June and the weather is acting like April, that is, if April was a terrible person who hated everyone. It's weirdly chilly and damp and charcoal-gray cloudy with the kind of muggy, sticky air that ruins your hair and makes you forget how to dress. This is putting every adult in my life in a terrible mood (I know, you live through this all of the time,
Seattle, but I do not know how). Anyway, I was sitting with my 4-year-old godson the other day, being generally cranky about the rain, when he said--in that irritating/adorable/unsullied way that kids put things in perspective--"But I love the rain, Aunt Jenn, because I get to wear my rain boots ALL OF THE TIME!" Then he erupted into gales of laughter and fell back on his bed. How are you supposed to argue with that? It made me think that maybe I need a pair of magical rain boots that make me feel special every time I put them on, perhaps a pair like
these or
these or, definitely,
these.
