I've been on the fence about the oxford shoe trend (main worry: that they'd make me resemble a dumpy, pear-shaped Alice in Wonderland character), but then, on Friday, I saw the cutest girl wearing a black t-shirt, black skinny jeans and a pair of pale oxfords that looked exactly like these. She had her hair pinned in a pretty bun, wore rosy-deep pink lipstick, small dangling earrings and fun, vintage-looking sunglasses. The effect was sleek, and a little punk, and I wanted it immediately, except...it was so hot! And she was wearing black jeans! Then, weirdly, later that day, I spotted the same girl, and she'd changed the outfit just slightly, switching out the pants for a bubbly miniskirt and it all still looked perfect. The shoes really work. I'm also into this vintage Ferragamo pair, which would be excellent with tights long into fall.
