Remember David Letterman's kind of cringe-y
Oscar hosting gig a few years back? Remember how he inexplicably launched into that weird "Oprah, Uma, Oprah, Uma" rant? Well, sometimes I find myself stuck in a similar semantics labyrinth with
eBay and
Etsy.

I've been crushing on the truly excellent
eBay shop
Persephone Vintage for about a year now and it's gotten to a point where I check its inventory almost every day. The selection is just spot on--current and perfectly original all at once, the kinds of clothes worn by artsy-cool ladies I always want to be. Anyway. Imagine how truly psyched I was to see
Persephone on Etsy, with a larger selection that includes killer
shoes,
bags,
dresses and--totally new to me--a handful of interesting
handmade items too. If you love vintage (and I know you do) you need to check it out.

Someday, the weather will cooperate and start behaving like its sunny, hot, pleasant
summer best. When that day comes, you will want a
bathing suit. And, perhaps, the bathing suit you will want is sexy and retro and will hide the lumpy bits while simultaneously making you look like a pinup queen? Well, you can find exactly this at
Norma Kamali's new eBay shop which has loads of exclusive, unused swimwear styles at 55 percent off their original prices. The options--which range from ruched, low-cut,
one pieces to
cheetah-print bikinis (rowr!)--aren't cheap, but they're the kinds of pieces that will last, which means you won't have to think about bathing suits until the next time hell a little bit freezes over and it's
April in June.

Sometimes, for no real reason I can discern, I wake up in the morning and feel as though I am too fat to live. It's as if my body dysmorphic, bad-permed, 15-year-old self has come back from the dead, armed with a vendetta to eat my brain. The whole enterprise is terrifying and lasts sometimes an entire morning, basically until I find something
cute to wear (like one of these amazing
dresses from
Voodoo Couture Vintage--check them out
here,
here, and
here), recognize that I am not living in an opposite-land
Shallow Hal-ian nightmare, and appreciate what I have. Are you ever briefly visited by embarrassing, regressive, "I feel fat" monsters? If so, how do you fight back?

Okay,
those tops from this morning? Well, well, well. They are from an awesome little eBay store called Neon Life Vintage. I love this shop for two simple reasons: 1.) They sell stuff that manages to feel on-trend, but still totally unique, and 2.) The bidding starts super, reasonably low (eg this
slinky little secretary dress and
a spring coat which is an amazing

marriage of '60s mod and nautical stripes--the starting bid for both is under $10). Put Neon Life on your favorites list now, own cute stuff later!
Often when I write up a new (to me) eBay store, veterans of the site are all, "Meh. I've known about that joint for years." And it's true: The exceptional shops on eBay are popular for a reason, but then, once they get too popular, they become mad overpriced, which seems to defeat their initial purpose. Sigh. Today, however, I believe I stumbled upon a magical boutique on eBay: UK-based Princes Vintage is fantastic, with an abundant, beyond-desirable stock (new stuff is posted every day), and prices that are still pretty cheap.
It all started when I was considering buying this shrunken jean jacket, then I saw a retro-sporty anorak (starting bid $1.97!), a sweet Brownies t-shirt to further my vintage tee fetish, this perfect saddle bag, and a chic/rugged travel tote, and now I am completely obsessed.
Even though it's all coming from an ocean over, the shipping's not too bad—around $17 for most items. Okay. So have you seen Princes Vintage yet? If not, you should check it out.
OMG. It's happening this weekend! Finally! The Grey Gardens movie starring Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange debuts on HBO tomorrow night. Check out the behind-the-scenes story on the film's iconic costume designs—I seriously cannot wait for its vintage goodness.
Also, I found a new store to go completely insane over: Have you checked out Adore Vintage? If not, you're missing out. It sells vintage and vintage-inspired jewelry, bags, clothes, and shoes, and they're all pretty great. Right now, I am enchanted by this Diane Fres dress. Pricey, yeah, but so beautiful.
Lucky favorite shop Lullie Vintage just launched a cool new blog, Everything Style. This week, the writers are loving artist Julie Verhoeven, and trust us, you will too.
On a final, completely random note, one can't help but glean inspiration from the gorgeous website Copenhagen Cycle Chic, which features—you guessed it—incredibly stylish folks on bikes.
