Seeing Red
I don't yet own any Rachel Comey shoes, though coming across these sandals just now, I'm reminded of how badly I'd like to change that. As is the case with most of her pieces, the aesthetic here hits the line between edgy and old-fashioned. The ruby red suede, chunky heels, and peep-toes have a Betty Boop'ish feel, though geometric brass hardware and crisscross straps add enough toughness to keep them from looking at all cartoony. And even though I'm a total wimp when it comes to wearing tall shoes, with their thick heels and padded leather insoles, these actually seem like they stand a real shot at being comfortable.
