More Reasons to Love Marc Jacobs

Flipping channels the other night I happened to catch the Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton documentary. TiVo it if you haven't seen it already'he's riveting and it's fascinating to learn about all the different parts that have to come together to produce his collections. It's an insane and amazing process, and I was inspired enough to take another look at what the latest is from Marc by Marc Jacobs (though not covered in the movie, it's the only one of his lines I can actually afford).

I love this sweater dress, which looks deceptively like a top and skirt from the front, and plays with that idea in the back, where a row of buttons extends from the top half to the bottom part of the piece. I'm also digging this jersey shirtdress, which again seems pretty straightforward at first, until you notice that the buttons are off-center, and that there's an accordion-pleated underskirt that's peeking out from the hem, so it looks like your slip is showing. Lastly, check out this deconstructed, puffy-sleeved, white-on-white pinstriped blouse, another example of the designer's knack for making something look improbably cool and ladylike at once.
