Taking big purchases for a test run

I've been coveting associate fashion editor Alexandra Willinger's leather bomber jacket for months now. It's worn in, and fits her perfectly, and makes her look tough even though she's probably the nicest person in the office. The problem with this particular quest is that leather bomber jackets tend to be expensive, and I'm not ready to plow lots of money into something that I probably won't wear every day. Which is why I'm going to test-drive the effect with this version—which has the big-time bonus of being hooded. Sure, it's made of polyurethane, but if I find myself wearing it all the time I'll spring for the real deal.
