What's that one item you won't let yourself buy?
For me, it's been Toms. And not because I didn't want a pair, or don't think that they benefit an excellent cause (for every pair purchased, they donate a pair to a child in need), but because I knew that once I bought them, I wouldn't take them off. You see, I can be really lazy when it comes to stylish items that are exceedingly comfortable—and I knew that if slippers that moonlight as slip-ons entered my repertoire, I'd never opt for something with a heel again. So I resisted ... until last week when I was shooting theNew Yorkshopping guide and found myself at Cry Wolf in the East Village, in a pair of shoes that were hurting my feet. And so I succumbed. I've worn them straight for the past eight days: To important meetings at the office, to dinners at Gemma and Bar Pitti, to the dry cleaners. It's kind of bad, as cute as my grey Toms may be. Is there anything that you all deny yourselves because you know it's the death knell for pulling it together when you get dressed in the morning?
