Dear Etsy: I need to own this tank top. No, really.

Sometimes I see a piece of clothing that I know I must own , something that I will go to any ends to buy so that I can wear it immediately, often, and for many years. When this happens (which is rarely), it's an aggressive, passionate, exciting, almost primal shopping experience--a little bit like falling in love--and it always results in my favorite things in my wardrobe.

I had that old feeling today when I spotted this outrageously good, unique and kind of Muppet-like ruffled tank top on Etsy. It's made by New York designer Patricia Ayres (she's also an artist) whose work is feminine and sculptural and somehow thought-provoking, the way the best fashion can be. The tank also comes in off-white, plum, and an army green (each is $48); but I'm going with the black and will be wearing it with a denim skirt and red peep-toe wedges, stat.

P.S. When did I become a person who says "stat"? Erg.
