These things are good: Throw pillows on Etsy

I caught the 1985 movie Mask on cable the other day and I realized that I've gleaned more inspiration from this film than I probably should admit to anyone, much less a whole blog readership, but whatevs, here goes: I love Mask . For starters, it represents my favorite Cher era (her post-disco, pre-techno, "serious actress" mode, see Moonstruck ). As a tough, Harley-riding mom struggling to raise a disabled son, Cher is beyond-expectations great and she rocks every jean skirt, lace top, black tank, men's button down, and piece of leather she puts on. (I've tried to replicate the biker-druggie-with-heart-of-gold look, more than once, without much success, but I vow to keep trying!)

Anyway...

There's also the awesomely inspiring story, about Rocky
Dennis, a nicekid with a weird face who is kind and decent to everybody even thoughmost people aren't decent to him. The poem at the end of the movie, where he talks about all the things that made him happy in life("These things are good") can still
make me blubber like an infant. Itforces me to get a hold of myself and my ridiculous first world problems and put my life in better perspective. It also reminds me to reallyenjoy my favorite things like friends I love, vintage dresses, rooftops, cheese, andthrow pillows. For the latter, a source I'm loving right now is Olive,an Etsy shop filled with lighthearted, sweetly graphic,retro-in-a-good-way, affordable pillows with names like "Everyone can fly" that I want to place all overmy apartment and feel happy every day.
