Travel Essential: BYO Plane Food

In addition to my requisite Virginia Johnson shawl, iPod, noise-canceling headphones, and so on, I always take food with me when I'm traveling. Thekitchn.com, one of my favorite food blogs, just did a post about what snacks people carry on planes, and the comments are so much fun to read (and are filled with lots of ideas for experimenting beyond my go-to travel sandwich: prosciutto, Swiss cheese, and butter on a crunchy baguette—I'm hungry now just thinking about it). I don't know why I hadn't thought of bringing my own water bottle (my favorite is this hot pink floral one made in conjunction with the V&A Museum in London) to fill up once I've cleared the security checkpoint, though I'm excited to incorporate this into my routine.
