How To Wear: The Rugby Shirt

The poor, misunderstood rugby shirt. At Rugby, we consider it our job to educate even an already-fashion-savvy population on how to wear this piece. Hint: Incorporating a sporty item into your wardrobe doesn't have to leave you looking ready to tackle a fullback.

A rugby can be one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe. You can layer it with everything, it provides great pops of color, and will last forever--and the more you wear it, the better it looks. Choose one with a slim fit and girly details to stay on the right side of sporty.

1. A chic pair of cropped trousers are the perfect step up from jeans and, when paired with a rugby, look perfectly polished. Biker-chic ankle boots keep the outfit young and fresh.

2. Add subtle color to a solid knit dress by layering the rugby underneath, then pair it with classic pumps or boots. The rugby makes the look less severe. An added bonus: All that layering will help keep youkeep warm come cooler months.

3. As much as we love boyfriend jeans, pairing them with a rugby shirt might look a little too, well, boyfriend. Get a more refined menswear-inspired look by wearing your rugby with a tailored vest and your darkest, sexiest pair of jeans.
