Sneak Peek: S2VS Spring/Summer 2010
Last night at the spring/summer 2010 preview of utilitarian label S2VS, guests to the Soho Grand Yard were met by a striking tableau of fresh-faced guys and gals, dressed smartly in understated, somewhat nautical get-ups. The brand's designers say they were influenced by "sailing styles in the late 60's combined with Ivy League prep style from the same era."
Their inspirations were apparent in the crisp polos and jaunty linen pants elevated by details like welted pockets, drawstrings, contoured seams, rolled cuffs and over-sized paper-bag waists. Though the two-year-old line's primary focus has always been menswear, last night's dabbling into womenswear felt decidedly right, the perfect embodiment of the prep-school/urban-cool spirit of S2VS, marking perhaps an intriguing new direction for the brand.
