Behind the Bags: Doo.Ri and Be & D's Collaboration
When asked how the collaboration between the two works, Steve Dumain, Be & D's co-creative director, said, "We start early in the process when Doo.ri is coming up with her collection and details and discuss shapes which will go well with her full concept. Then Doo.ri creates the detailing, and we work together to find the best leathers.
We make the bags in two parts. Sometimes we do the embellishment and sometimes she does--and then we do the leather work on our end. Its a very yin, yang process."
The collection exemplifies just such a process. The bags--done in the color palette and detailing of the clothes--have the same soft-yet-edgy vibe.
Check out my favorites from the new collection: an off-white clutch embellished with delicate silver chains (above ), a tattered ruffled clutch (top ) made from distressed leather and bedecked with chains (a take on the classic Be & D Kan Kan clutch), and my favorite shoulder bag, which is made with a mesh lace with chains embroidered inside (below ).
