Closet Overhaul Success

We have a huge organizing story over here on our website, which is full of our favorite resources for getting your closet nicely situated so you can actually get dressed with ease in the morning. Like a lot of people, I seem to be pretty great at dishing actual advice without actually taking it.

But this all changed on Saturday, when I decided to use Labor Day Weekend to get a handle on the incredible mass of clothing that I own. My hands are still cramping from the chaos that ensued, and I think I might have pulled a muscle in my back: I'm donating about 50-70 pounds of clothing to Housing Works (an awesome, NYC-based charity), including 21 pairs of jeans and 20 pairs of shoes (I've been keeping track of the shoes that I wear over on Daytum, and so I chucked almost all of those that hadn't broken into the ranks this past year). And don't feel too badly for me either, because I somehow still have more than 20 pairs of jeans leftover.

The upside of this major purge is that I feel really liberated to shop, and like I have a good handle on what I actually need. At the top of the list are pretty boxes for storing my jewelry, like these woven ones that are sourced from Africa. Love!!!
