Fashion Week Scorecard: Marc Jacobs

The Show : Marc Jacobs

The Scene : The New York Armory done up in operating room white and democratically lined with all front row seating

The Celebs : Madonna, Lady GaGa

The Models : 72 of em-all the current biggies

The Swag : Lola (Marc Jacobs' newest fragrance)

The Look : Well, because it's MJ, first impressions can be deceiving. Given the kabuki makeup, top-knots and wood-bottom thong sandals, one would initially say it was Marc's memoirs of a geisha. But, then it went on and the ideas kept coming. There was traditional sportswear: short raincoats; cashmere sweaters (cardigans, vests and short-sleeve polos); military jackets; prim silk blouses; pinstripe suiting and plaid. Again, because it was MJ and not J.Crew, all of this got twisted up with crazy, stiff, curvy candy-like ruffles (including tie-on collars); satin bras worn over the blouses (hi Madonna!); sequin latticework coats and suits; sheer baggy leggings; calf-length hobble skirts; long, extra-full skirts; and MC Hammer pants. The bags ran the gamut from fringe-embellished basket weave to large, pouchy and dotted with mini-tassels to a fanny pack. Head spinning yet? Picture all of this taking place between precisely 8:02 pm (the show started two minutes after the designated call time) and 8:10 pm.

What we loved : The military-precision timing; the spectacle; the clothes; MARC!
