The Ralph Lauren show space in the West Village done up in "Haute Barn"--white-washed wood plank floors and white wood bleachers covered in hand sewn natural linen cushions
Janet Jackson, Patricia Field, the Lauren Clan (Dylan, Ricky, David and Lauren Bush)
The Music: Ralph's son Andrew is credited with the playlist that included some Hank Williams, Ellen Jewell and Neil Young.
The Models: Classic beauties including Anja, Lily Donaldson, Anastasia and Vlada.
The Look: In his program notes, Ralph talks about the "resilient spirit of America" in hard times as his inspiration. He looked to the "character of the worker, the farmer, the cowboy and the pioneer women of the prairies living authentically through challenging times," while creating his spring 2010 show. In looking back, Lauren offered a lineup that felt absolutely on target for right now.

By taking work wear pieces and adding special details, he made clothes that felt new enough to create a desire but casual enough to be completely appropriate. There were sweet floral-print cotton dresses, oversize denim jackets, striped nightshirt-like dresses, cotton vests, white cotton organdy dresses, slouchy overalls and lots of Depression-era pinstripes mixed in.

What made these clothes runway-worthy were the subtle sparkling embellishments: rhinestone-encrusted sandals with jeans, little shimmering earrings with everything, a rough leather belt with a jeweled buckle, and faded blue ombre gowns twinkling with silver beads.
What We Loved: The gowns and the floral dresses.
