Fashion Week Scorecard: Thakoon
The Show: Thakoon
The Scene: The cavernous, brick-lined Eyebeam media space in Chelsea
The Celebs: Ciara and Elettra Wiedemann
The Models: The image that kept coming to mind was Lucy Liu in Kill Bill : Long hair pulled back and into a looped-over half ponytail
The Look: Sexy Samurai. And between all the drapes and swags, it was all about the prints--the prints themselves, the different combinations of prints, and even the origami-like way the prints were contoured between swaths of solid colors. Remember that gorgeous, surreally perfect setting for the final sword fight scene in the snow during Kill Bill: Vol.1 ? That's really the only way to describe the standout florals and perky hues in this collection: vibrant pinks, turquoises, purples and oranges, with names like "bleeding florals" and "sky techno twill."
What We Loved: The draped-front pant (easy through the hips and thighs, then slightly tapered at the hem--they're lounge pants you can actually wear out), the gathered-front floral minidress, almost-white nude cocktail dresses, and the chain-adorned, super downtown-y blazer that will give everything in your closet just the right edge.
