Liz Claiborne Gives You Five Bags for the Price of One

We popped into the chicly loft-like Liz Claiborne showroom this morning for a quick tour of the spring collection, guided by the line's recently installed designer Isaac Mizrahi.

Since the company ingeniously selected Mizrahi to revamp the label, there's a new sense of fun, youth, lightness and--because it's Mizrahi--wit. In addition to all sorts of happy spring separates like a perfect green and blue cotton floral dress, there's Mizrahi's newest take on the bag-in-a-bag (you know, the tote you take to work with the smaller bag inside to carry when you go out for lunch or on to an evening event straight from the office).

Mizrahi's creation is better described as a bag (or bags) ON a bag. He starts with a fabulous canvas tote, replete with multiple discreet rings on the front. He then attaches a full array of smaller bags to the rings, essentially providing a bag for every possible need you might have in a day: a coin purse, makeup roll, day bag and eyeglass case.

While it's unlikely you'd carry the ensemble fully rigged, there's no end to the genius of all of these case/bag options being sold as a set for under $150.
