NYFW Favorite: Helmut Lang Does Denim
Helmut Lang is one of my favorite collections. I loved it when it was done by the designer himself and still love it now that it's been spun off for a wider market. Even though the changes from season to season are subtle, I always look forward to going to the showroom to see what's new.
Today we stopped in between shows to check out spring 2010. The amazing leather jackets and leggings, the deconstructed sweaters, and cool asymmetrical abstract-print dresses were all represented but what really caught my eye (in addition to an incredible black lace bodysuit) was the denim. Not considered a separate collection (but informally called the Helmut Lang denim program), the pieces were all exactly what I'm craving right now: a denim jacket cut in a leather-jacket shape, perfect skinny jeans in icy white, a slouchy washed denim vest, an oversize denim shirt, and the best/thinnest tees and tanks.
