Newsflash! LiLo and Ungaro
Emanuel Ungaro has just announced its new creative leadership: Estrella Archs will serve as chief designer, with Lindsay Lohan (yes, that Lindsay Lohan) as her artistic adviser, a position created just for the starlet. Effective immediately, the duo will debut their spring/summer 2010 collection on October 4, 2009 during Paris Fashion Week.
An official press release from Ungaro touts the collaboration as a revolutionary creative model, "thus replacing the established mold of designer-only led fashion with a new vision of designer and consumer-led fashion."
Archs, a Central Saint Martins graduate who has worked at Nina Ricci and Emilio Pucci, and Lohan, who needs no further introduction, will be replacing Esteban Cortazar, who left the French company in June amid rumors of his dissatisfaction over just such a celebrity hire.
"Twenty-first Century muses are extroverts whose personal style and experience gives them a strong creative and artistic focus. Thus was our vision of combining the eye of a fashion creator (Ms. Archs) with the eye of the ultimate luxury consumer, a celebrity (Ms. Lohan)," states Mounir Moufarrige, President of Emanuel Ungaro, in the release.
"Mr. Ungaro's success was based on his genius for design and his controversial eye to whom his consumer was," says Mr. Mouffarige. "Lindsay is a world consumer with a clear eye for fashion."
Lohan's fashion resume includes 6126 Collection, a line consisting solely of leggings, and a guest appearance on the premiere episode of Project Runway 's sixth season.
