Splurges: Expedition Trunk from Pottery Barn

One of my all-time greatest wishes is to drop out of real life for a couple of years to travel the world. It's definitely not the most original of dreams, but it's mine and I think about it almost daily--the people I'll meet, the food, the outfits. An integral part of the fantasy trip I've imagined is the luggage I'll bring with me.

I've always pictured it to be old-world style leather trunks. Not themost practical, admittedly, but incredibly romantic and beautiful. Thelogical side of me knows that if my trip ever becomes a reality on anylevel, I'll most likely be toting around the most lightweight, boring, unglamorous luggage out there. Nonetheless, I refuse to give up on mydesire to own a beautiful antique-style travel trunk. And with a newapartment to decorate, it seems like the perfect time to splurge onthis "Expedition Trunk"from Pottery Barn. I may never use it for traveling, but it willprovide an elegant place to store the unsightly piles of books, clothes, etc. that litter my apartment. It might even inspire me tostart saving money so I can, trunk or no trunk, make my as-of-nowimaginary trip a reality.
