What We Loved At The Emmys
The Emmys are a decidedly more low-key affair than the Oscars. While everyone makes an effort, you can tell that months of preparation didn't go into the decisions the way you know they do for the Oscars. As a result, there aren't as many OMG fashion moments, or crazy fashion risks at the TV awards. Though there were, for various reasons, a few stand-outs.
Leighton Meester
First, the Gossip Girls : Leighton Meester and Blake Lively. I love that Leighton will take a chance. She doesn't just go with what's pretty, she usually chooses what's fashion-y. And because she's so cute, she can usually pull it off. Her Bottega Veneta dress last night, with the knotted shoulders, didn't quite translate for TV (it just looked like she had pillows under her ears) but the cut and the color were very flattering and her hair and makeup were so right for the look that it all seemed to work.
Blake Lively
Blake Lively's default move is usually overtly sexy and she didn't disappoint when she presented the award for directing in a comedy series. Her red Versace had it all on display and certainly gave the TV-viewing public something to gossip about.
Mila Kunis
Others who chose perfectly were Mila Kunis in a ballerina-esque Monique Lhuillier, Kate Walsh in a gray Grecian J. Mendel, Ginnifer Goodwin in a totally chic purple YSL and the super-pregnant Heidi Klum who would look gorgeous in a burlap sack but really got it right in a strapless black Marchesa.
