I really, really, really want some penny loafers. Badly. Particularly in this polished auburn color. I love the idea of wearing them with thick tights and a short skirt, or with cuffed skinny jeans and an oversized oxford.

This pair is from Talbots, at the nice price of $81.75. They're so, so preppy--but for whatever reason, that just seems so right, particularly now that it is very much fall, in a hyper-crisp way. I feel like I'll put these on and feel like Penelope Witherspoon, from the 1983 Dan Akroyd/Eddie Murphy movie Trading Places , in the best possible way.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy?
