Confession: I Am A Bad Daughter.

My mother was just in town, and the day she left I gave her a bag of beauty treats I'd plucked off my desk: Lip balm, face creams, SPF, and other sensible mommish things she'd requested, as well as a couple of my favorite scents that I thought might be good for her: A Le Labo Iris perfume balm and the classic Kiehl's Musk oil.

Then the moment came when she was going through the bag, pulling each thing out to see if she did, in fact, need it, and she came to the musk oil--and OUT OF NOWHERE, I blurted something to the effect of, "WAIT! That one's actually mine! It got into the bag accidentally!"

OMG. Not a proud moment.

...and of course, I immediately felt greedy and guilty and vile, and tried to backtrack (I said of course she could keep it if she liked it; she said oh no, she couldn't, she's not usually a musk person anyway). It was irreversible; the musk oil was mine. And THEN, as if THAT hadn't been bad enough, when she was smelling the Le Labo Iris, I found myself hoping fervently that she wouldn't like it!! Fortunately/unfortunately, she did; mercifully, I stayed quiet.

Anyway, there you have it. It is terrible and shameful and I am horribly embarrassed, but it also speaks to the greatness of the two scents. Get them for your mother; get them for yourself.
