How Many Boots is Too Many?

I have a problem. I can't stop buying boots and I'm not getting rid of the boots I already own and this compulsive collecting situation is becoming contentious in a one bedroom apartment with no closets and two cats and one husband.

But here's the thing: I really don't feel my boot inventory is too large. I own two very different pairs of flat brown ones, two heeled black styles (thigh-high and mid-calf), a stacked ankle look, the ideal rainwear and one pair in a lovely, vintage '60s-ish mahogany suede. To round out my collection, I've been looking for the following: Black riding (flat), black ankle (flat), and one pair of the elusive Molly-Ringwald-in-The-Breakfast Club tie-ups. Ten pairs total. Is that really too much? Honestly, boots are the only footwear I put on in the colder months and, despite what my live-in partner/faux-closet sharer says, the same ones just DO NOT look good with everything.

However, somewhere, in places I don't especially like to look, I worry that I'm a greedy, awful, materialistic, boot-buying monster. Can love for an accessory get too out of control? Have I lost my rational, non-fashiony mind? I just don't know.

P.S. In other news, the eBay store Pickle PA consistently carries hard-to-find vintage styles I want. Right now, its selling a pristine pair from Charles David and my all-time favorite Dexter style.
