Get Gaultier at Your Local Target (Really!)
What do fashion designers Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui and Jean Paul Gaultier have in common? They've all created collections for Target, thanks to the retailer's Designer Collaboration series--to which Gaultier is the latest to sign on. Separate from Target's Go! International collaborations (which have in the past featured labels like Rogan and Rodarte), Designer Collaborations are partnerships with big, established design talents.
The renowned French fashion designer is best known for his expert tailoring, as well as his skill in crafting eye-catching onstage ensembles (he's supplied Madonna's for years). His exclusive collection for Target hits stores March 7, 2010 and will, according to statements, pay "tribute to the American woman, celebrating the forces of style both past and present in American pop culture." What this theme will translate to, clothing-wise, remains to be seen. -Alisa Gould-Simon
