Postcard from Venice: La Biennale
I stopped in Venice during the break between Milan and Paris shows to check out some art at La Biennale. The combined Danish/Nordic pavilion had a very cool exhibit about domestic dysfunction--there's lots of angst in the contemporary art world!
The artists had built a replica of a house with interior elements, each perfectly designed save for some tragic flaw (see the front hall mirror andcracked dining table, pictured above).
The one that really grabbed my attention was a wardrobe containingan assembly of interconnected Addams Family -esque black clothes, thesleeves or hems of each piece having been fused to one another, called"Relatives." It reminded me of the avant-garde fashion designers,Viktor & Rolf.
