Postcard from Paris: Ruffles, Denim, and a Nod to Linda at Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney presented her multi-mood spring collection to a star-packed front row--sitting side-by-side were Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlotte Casiraghi, Charlotte Rampling, and her father, Paul McCartney.
In a departure from her usual straight-forward suiting, McCartney added a sculptural element to her tailored pieces with molded ruffles and peplums.
She then moved in the direction of '70s summer staples like the perfect button-front denim a-line skirt, cork-bottom "Linda" wedges that were "inspired by [her] mum," and sundresses. Those looks were followed by McCartney's trademark suit/lace underpinning combinations, and then, towards the end, bigger, bouncier ruffles on modern summer party clothes.
It was a lot to take in, but as she said in her program notes, it was a way of offering a wardrobe for "today's woman who is confident to simply be herself."
