Remembrance of Coats Past
Once upon a time I had the most smashingly beautiful Milly coat ever. It was black with gold buttons in the sleekest cut, I'd bought it for a song at a sample sale, and I wore it everywhere. Then one night: Tragedy! I accidentally left it in a bar and I never saw it again.
Now, I don't know about you, but I am person who mourns lost clothes, big time--particularly two items. Thefirst was a perfect, simple, extra soft, plum-colored White + Warrencashmere cardigan that a friend borrowed at my house when she was cold, never returned, and then "couldn't find" (for this--and myriad otherreasons--we are no longer friends). And the second is my Milly coat, which made me feel regal and ladylike every time I put it on, no smallfeat when you're dealing with a slightly gawky woman like me.
Though I haven't been able to precisely replace either, I know I needto move on (similar to the stages of real grief--I've been throughdenial and anger, and now it's time for acceptance) and I plan to substitute my favorite outerwear with a new version fromeBay. Luckily for me, the site has some outstanding Milly options right now, including this fancy gold-flecked look, something in a black brocade, and, this, essentially a dream in winter white.
If you too are on the market for a new coat, you should check out Andrea Linett's awesome how-to video. I want that Norma Kamali style, like, right away.
